You could do the same thing with a USB drive or even your home router if it allows you to plug in usb storage if you don't like the idea of your financials being in the cloud and all your devices are in one location. But, I now have more info and can probably get something going that I'm happy with. If I could redirect configs directly into a Dropbox-replicated directory then that would probably be preferable to installing another tool for the syncing. I have used that tool in the past, and I had forgotten about it.
